Checklist to prepare your car before a long Road Trip in UAE
Make your long drive trouble free with these checks in your car
It is the very first dream of every car owner after purchasing a car in United Arab Emirates to try at least once a road trip to other emirates within UAE or even to Oman.
Those who are especially new in UAE, will be more excited as they are going to explore the much heard, but unfamiliar road routes. Unlike in the olden days, where finding the right road route is considered as a real challenge in the long drive, but now with the help of GPS Guru, any less experienced driver can confidently plan a long road trip within UAE or Oman.
Even if you carefully plan your travel arrangements, just a minor trouble with your car can spoil the spirit of the whole trip. Hence it is extremely essential to prepare your car well in advance before you plan a long road trip.
We have prepared a quick infographic chart to check various parts inside or outside of your car to confirm if it is working properly or suspecting any problems from it. Those who prefer DIY can inspect themselves, but it is always recommended to get your car checked by an expert technician. Make sure you prepare well in advance in case you need to get any car parts repaired or replaced, as it may consume some time.
Some of the tips that you can keep in mind before the travel,
- If your trip is to mountainous areas like Jebel Al Jais at Ras-al-Khaimah or Jebel Hafeet at Al-Ain in UAE or areas like Jabal Akhdar, Jebel Shams or Salalah in Oman, it is extremely important to check the brake pads, braking action and other brake related components in your car as brake is a critical component heavily and frequently used while descending the mountain.
- In some mountainous areas like Jabal Akhdar in Oman, they allow only SUVs to climb the mountain. So it is very important to choose the right vehicle type for your travel.
- If you have planned any night travel as part of your travel plan, make sure all your exterior lights like headlights, tail lights, brake lights etc are working properly.
- It is equally important to start your ride in a properly cleaned car for better visibility and of course driving in a clean car is convenient for all the passengers traveling in it. Unfortunately those who drive to long routes like Salalah will most likely find a totally dirtied car at the end of the trip.
- Even if the climate is summer time in UAE, if you travel to places like Salalah, you have to expect the unexpected rainfall at any time, so better prepare for that too. Make sure wipers in your car are working properly. Replace Windshield Wiper rubber if needed as it helps to improve the visibility when required.
- It is extremely important to check your air conditioning system inside your car as it not only cools the temperature inside the car but also essential for the smooth functioning of your car's engine. Sometimes a simple A/C gas refill will solve your A/C problem. But make sure there is no A/C gas leak or any problem with the associated components like evaporator or compressor. Also it is good time to check your air filter if it needs replacing as it is important for better performance, less emissions and increase gas mileage.
- The next most vital component are the Car Tires, make sure they are in good shape for the entire journey, make sure you check the Spare Wheel Tyre too. Check whether the jack and leg nut wrench are in place too. Check the Tyre Pressure ideally just before the journey for all the tires including the Spare Tyre. Have your Tires Balanced if you feel any vibration at high speed. If you are planning for an Off-road ride, make sure your tires are suited for that.
The earlier you plan your travel, the better you get time for the preparation of your car, repair or replace the required parts as recommended and enjoy a trouble free long drive.
